This webinar is a part of the series Tunnel your way to success with PLAXIS.
The Madrid Traditional Method is a construction method for tunnel construction with over 100 years of tradition. This method is extensively used in Madrid and is presented in all the expansions of Madrid Metro starting in 1917. It uses a unique excavation sequence that comprises the division of the crown in a series of pocket excavations that are successively supported by a combination of struts, waler beams and wood planks, and directly followed by, typically, an unreinforced concrete lining installation.
The typical design of this construction method uses simplified analysis that don’t adequately capture the complex construction sequence and the three-dimensional effects of the method. AYESA’s design team led by Cláudio Dias developed new approaches using tunnel designer in both PLAXIS 2D and 3D that allowed to model this method in a more complete way, taking advantage of the latest developments in PLAXIS. The developed approach can also be used in similar tunnel complex sequence, that can be found in hand mining or square works in projects all over the world. Thus, the latest PLAXIS techs and functionalities provides considerable help to yield an optimized, cost effective and fully functional tunnelling project.
Join our user expert Claudio Dias (AYESA – Head of Ground Engineering & Tunnelling) for a live webinar and learn how PLAXIS can guarantee your modelling success and help your Tunnel design.
What the webinar will highlight:
